General Music
Music instruction is open to all students at Grandview. Lower school students receive general music instruction two class periods per week and participate in at least two yearly musical productions. Middle and upper school students may elect to take music classes as a part of their regular school day.
Private Lesson Program
The Grandview Private Lesson Program is by audition only and will include students who already show proficiency in piano and/or voice. The program is open to 3rd through 12th grade students who are interested in a deeper study of music than is provided by the beginning lab classes or other choral ensembles at Grandview. The students have the option of focusing their training in any music style in which they may be interested. Grandview provides a very unique opportunity to be able to take private lessons during the school day. Beginning Piano Lab
Many students would like to have a deeper connection to music by learning to play an instrument but are not certain where or how to begin. The Grandview Piano Lab Class is a great place to start. While not focusing on any one musical style or method, the Lab is designed to familiarize the student with a variety of styles while providing the basic piano skills that apply to all musical genres. Study is done in a fun and engaging atmosphere three times a week during the school day. Curriculum includes basic technique, theory, keyboard geography and repertoire in all musical styles. Students will be required to have access to a piano or keyboard at home, preferably a full sized, weighted keys keyboard at the minimum. Grandview Glee Club
Glee Club is a treble choir open to Grandview students grades 3 through 8 by audition.
The Glee Club rehearses twice per week after school and performs at school functions, community events and choral festivals. In 2006, they performed at the Kravis Center and in 2008 were featured in the nationally broadcast World’s Largest Concert video. Members of the Grandview Glee Club have been selected for the Florida Elementary All-State Choirs and the National Choirs. Most recently, the Glee Club received the Adjudicators Award and a Gold Medal at the Heritage Festival in Orlando. Because of their stellar performances, the Glee Club was one of two choirs selected to perform at Carnegie Hall in New York City. For more information about the Glee Club, please click here.
