Grandview Private Arts Instruction
Grandview offers the opportunity for students to take private dance and/or private music lessons either during the school day or after school. The private art or dance lesson will be with Ms. Held and the private music lesson will be with Mrs. Furman, Mr. Furman or another instrumental music teacher on site at Grandview.
Lessons currently being offered:
- Voice (All voice students must purchase a Singer's Mask prior to the start of lessons)
- Dance (General technique, Jazz, Tap, Ballet/Pre Pointe/Pointe, Contemporary/Lyrical, Hip-Hop, Acrobatics)
- Drums (Must bring own sticks)
- Guitar (Must have own instrument)
- Bass (Must have own instrument)
There are limited slots available, so it is HIGHLY recommended that you fill out the registration form and review class policies and return it as soon as possible. Lessons are scheduled in the order the registration forms are received.
Carrie Furman- Voice, Piano
Carrie is a graduate of the University of Miami with a degree in Jazz Vocal Performance. She has been working as a musician and music educator for 25 years, with experience in live performances as well as studio work. She encourages her students to focus on vocal technique, songwriting, music theory and ear training while centering their learning in the genre of music with which the student feels most comfortable. This is Carrie’s 6th year at Grandview.
Stephanie Held- Dance (General technique, Jazz, Tap, Ballet/Pre Pointe/Pointe, Contemporary/Lyrical, Hip-Hop, Acrobatics) and Art
Stephanie has been dancing for over 30 years and teaching dance for 16 years. She has experience with children aged 2 and up and has worked with beginners to advanced dancers, with 5+ years working directly with special needs students. This is Stephanie’s 5th year at Grandview.
Jason Furman- Drum Set/Percussion, Piano, Bass, Guitar
Jason Furman is a skilled and experienced performer and music instructor with a Bachelor’s in Music from Rowan University in New Jersey and a Masters in Music from the University of Miami. Jason has been performing since he was a child, and has worked with notable names such as Arturo Sandoval, Debbie Gibson, The Four Tops and Rosemary Clooney. Jason is primarily a drummer and percussionist, but is also accomplished in piano, guitar and bass as well as in music production. He has taught college level classes in drum set, piano, Jazz History, Rock History, Music Production, General Music History and Jazz Band. He was the marching band and jazz band instructor at New York Military Academy for 6 years and has been an adjunct faculty member at Miami-Dade College for 21 years. He has been an invited clinician at Berklee College of Music in Boston, The Collective School of Music in New York City and his alma mater, Rowan University in New Jersey, among others.
