Private Arts Instruction

Grandview Private Arts Instrucation


Grandview offers the opportunity for students to take private dance and/or private music lessons either during the school day or after school. The private dance lesson will be with Ms. Espinosa and the private music lesson will be with Mrs. Furman or another instrumental music teacher on site at Grandview.

If you would like to take lessons on an instrument not listed above, Grandview will make every effort to find a teacher for you. There are limited slots available, so it is HIGHLY recommended that you fill out the registration form and review class policies and return it as soon as possible. Lessons are scheduled in the order the registration forms are received.

Our Instructors


Carrie Furman- Voice, Piano, Guitar

Carrie is a graduate of the University of Miami with a degree in Jazz Vocal Performance. She has been working as a musician and music educator for 25 years, with experience in live performances as well as studio work. She encourages her students to focus on vocal technique, songwriting, music theory and ear training while centering their learning in the genre of music with which the student feels most comfortable. This is Carrie’s 4th year at Grandview.

Stephanie Espinosa- Dance (General technique, Jazz, Tap, Ballet/Pre Pointe/Pointe, Contemporary/Lyrical, Hip-Hop, Acrobatics)

Stephanie has ben dancing for over 30 years and teaching dance for 15 years. She has experience with children aged 2 and up, and has worked with beginners to advanced dancers, with 5+ years working directly with special needs students. This is Stephanie’s 3rd year at Grandview.

Jack Schunk- Piano, Drums

Downbeat Award-winner Jack Schunk is a drummer, pianist, educator, composer, and bandleader based in Miami, Florida. In addition to his own group, the Jack Schunk Trio, he has performed with Grammy-winning musicians Eric Marienthal, Ed Calle, Dave Weckl, and Randy Brecker. Schunk has performed at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, the Peaks Jazz Festival, the Umbria Jazz Festival, and the Sundance Film Festival. 

Schunk has taught music privately for seven years, and has a firm background in formal music education. At the University of Miami, he was a Weeks Scholar and Foote Fellow, and graduated cum laude from the Frost School of Music with a Bachelor of Arts in Music. At the Frost School, he studied jazz drum set performance, classical composition, and music production. He has played piano for sixteen years, and drums for fourteen. He is also a YoungArts Foundation alumnus.
