Coach Kathleen Prindle has been a unique and inspirational coaching presence in South Florida since 2002. A former competitive swimmer and a 1993 graduate of Pennsylvania State University, she has over twenty-five years of coaching experience.

During 10 years as a fashion executive in New York City, Prindle never strayed far from the sport she loves - She started a Learn-toSwim program for disadvantaged youth in Hoboken, New Jersey. This soon led to a 1994 partnership with the Stevens Institute of Technology in New Jersey, where Prindle started a Masters team as well as an Age-Group team, and assisted in the creation of the Stevens Ducks DIII Women’s Team. Since 1987, Prindle has created eight Learn-to-Swim programs through the American Red Cross, AAU, and USA Swimming, and taught hundreds of students. She also taught and coached throughout Pennsylvania, New York, Northern Virginia, and at Orlando’s Disneyworld!

Upon relocation to Florida in 2002, Prindle returned fulltime to the pool deck, at the Grandview Preparatory School in Boca Raton, where she has served as Aquatics Administrator/Head Varsity Coach for 11 years. At Grandview, Prindle manages the on-site aquatic facility, and has been the Varsity Boys’ and Girls’ Head Coach since 2002. She also developed Grandview’s Lower-School PE curriculum and instituted Middle School swimming as a funded sport. Under Prindle’s direction the Pride Swim Team has competed in the FHSAA State Championships for nine seasons (Soon to be 10 in 2013)!

Beyond Grandview’s campus, Prindle served as the Assistant National Team Coach under Olympic coaching legend Michael Lohberg at the Coral Springs Swim Club from 2006-2011. She helped produce eight Olympians, one World Record-holder, two American Record-holders, eight FHSAA State Champions, multiple JO/Zone/and Sectional Champions, one Pan-Am Champion, and nine AllAmerican swimmers. In 2011 Prindle founded Performance Aquatics, an elite swim club for senior (13+over) athletes. “PAQ” trains professional swimmers, as well as dedicated high-schoolers, and many have gone on to further their careers at the Collegiate, National, and International /World Championship levels. Prindle has also coached multiple local swimmers to JO, Zone, Sectional, State, and Junior National titles. She has also worked with other professional athletes (baseball players, golfers, tri-athletes) teaching swimming as an effective cross-training technique.

Off the deck, Prindle has been a guest lecturer at Lynn University on Business Practices and a consultant for various swim schools throughout Florida’s Gold Coast. The continual pursuit of coaching knowledge and professional excellence earned her an American Swim Coaches Association Fellowship in 2010. For her work at the high school level, Prindle was elected to the FHSAA Advisory Board (term 2012-2016) and was selected to serve on USA Swimming’s Senior Development National Executive Committee (term 2012-2016). Kathleen is an ASCA Level 5 coach, the highest level attainable.

“Coach K” is driven by a desire to help each and every swimmer achieve their own athletic goals through a focus on technical perfection, a positive coaching style, and illumination of life lessons. She sees tremendous value in interacting with her students with laughter and kindness, to create an environment where any success is possible.
