Carrie Furman is the Director of Performing Arts at Grandview Preparatory School.

“There is no ‘one size fits all’ method of teaching in the arts… the subject really is the student.”

Mrs. Furman has been involved in different aspects of the performing arts for over 25 years. Upon graduating from the University of Miami with a degree in Studio Music and Jazz Voice, she began her career as a professional musician, working both on stage and in the recording studio as a performer, songwriter and vocal coach.

Mrs. Furman has been invited to perform all over the world with artists like Jon Secada and Lari White as well as music groups in Miami, New York, Nashville and New Orleans. During this time, she was also honing her skills as a teacher, and taught both drama and voice to all ages, worked as music director for school musicals and in the recording studio as a professional vocal and stage performance coach.

Her students have gone on to have successful careers in music and acting. Mrs. Furman teaches general music to early childhood through 5th Grade, directs the Glee choir and AcaPride, teaches musical theater to both Middle and Upper School students and directs Grandview's annual spring musical.

Her husband, Jason, is a college professor and musician and they have three children. She also continues to work as a professional musician in the south Florida area.
